Is There a Better Mouse Program for Ubuntu 7.10 ?

Asked by taurus

The mouse program in Ubuntu 7.10 is kind of limiting. Is there a program I can download that is more powerful and has more features than the one that comes in Ubuntu by default?

Thanks for your question.

You might want to specify what "powerful" means. What do you want to achieve?

Markus, thank you for your good question. By powerful, I want to be able to specify and limit what areas of my laptop touchpad I can scroll/move my mouse. For example, in a webpage or word doc, the scroll area of my touchpad takes up more than half the area of the touchpad. When I just want to move my mouse and not scroll, I instead am stuck scrolling. I want to be able to dedicate a small area of the touchpad to scrolling.

Hello Taurus

There is a program in the repos called "gsynaptics" for configuring Synaptics touchpads. (I m not sure about other models though)
