How to go about packages which dont have a particular dependency not available

Asked by Vijay

Hi,

I am trying to install packages using synaptic and at times there is an error where a particular file which is required for the installed package is not available in the download repository. How do I go about it. Also is it okay that I just try to download that particular file and try to install it into ubuntu or what. I am using dapper.

Thanks and Regards,
-vijay

What package are you trying to install and what is the missing dependency?

I have tried to install a group of packages thru synaptic and at times I got
a particular library or something is not available in the repository, so it
cannot be downloaded and installed. I am sorry I dont remember which package
it was as I tried to install some of the stuff I wanted as a group.

Unfortunately without knowing the packages it's not easy to determine a solution.
