Asked by Arnold

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 My Nvidia GT620 has to be physically removed and have to use onboard video. How can I remove the installed drivers and update Nvidia? The screen shows lines and dots when installed.

How did you install the video driver?

It is rare for proprietary video drivers to survive release upgrades

Sorry for the delay, Im new to Linux and trying to find my way around. I originally installed Ubuntu 12.04. All worked fine until the request to upgrade. I started the upgrade process and encountered errors and my machine froze. I decided to start from scratch, deleted the installed version and followed the same procedure again from the cd installation disk and did the upgrade at the same time. I noticed that Ubuntu was loading but could not read the instructions on the screen. I decided to reboot and use the onboard video card and am able to read and navigate now, but cant do so when I replace the Nvidia card. I cant put the card in and auto detect as the onboard graphics is not active when Nvidia is slotted.
