Missing symbols in linux-image-2.6.24-12-xen?

Asked by Tim Post

I have installed the source package for 2.6.24-12-xen (linux-image-2.6.24-12-xen). This got the kernel source, but no trace of dom-0 specific symbols. The symbols are present in the binary package, but seem to be missing from the source package.

Examples are:

XEN_INTERFACE_VERSION , XEN_PRIVILEGED_GUEST
... and all other dom-0 ops.

Is there another package that I need to install to add these to the linux-image-2.6.24 source tree, or should they already be there?

Using Hardy, x86_64.

Thanks in advance!

The source to linux-image-2.6.24-12-xen can not be configured to produce the same kernel installed by the binary package.

Xen's dom-0 operations are missing completely, at least from x86_64.

Get the kernel linux-image-2.6.24-12-xen , then apt-get source it. You can not reproduce the kernel from source.

The whole "Xen" section from kconfig is missing in the source package. If you look at the config installed by 2.6.24-12-xen, you will see the symbols for those options, which mean they're in the kernel.

These are non-existent in the source package.
