atempts to open sound mgr System>
Unable to start the settings manager gnome-settings-
without the GNOME settings manager running, some
prtferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonbo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings
manager may alreaty be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager.
