Amilo 1718li softkeys not working, can't switch on wireless

Asked by coenieolivier

I need some help to get my laptop softkeys to work as I cannot switch on my wireless without those keys. I don't really care about the internet and 'soft-fan' keys. just want to be able to switch on my wireless.
No use in getting the drivers to work if you can't switch it on.
I have an Atheros 5007 wireless card in my laptop and will probably need help help with that too in Hardy.

Regards

As far as I'm concerned, your issue may be solved using wistron_btns kernel module. To give it a try, do the following in terminal:

sudo modprobe wistron_btns

and try your WLAN button. If this works for you, you may add wistron_btns to /etc/modules (on a separate line) so that it is loaded every time you boot the machine.

Can you help with this problem?
