Internet?

I do not have a router, and I use a modem for my Internet. I just got linux, but it refuses to connect to the net using both Modem and Wired. What do I do?

What kind of modem do you have ? What type of connexion do you use ?

With this information, we should be able to describe a way to configure your system.

please check whether ubuntu has detected the ethernet port it is supposed to be eth0
you can set up this modem by pppeconf also

please provide the answer then we go further
