Hi peter,

I think it is so safe as the other current packages you have in your system - before final release, they're all experimental. There may be some important bug, maybe not. If you're running Hardy before the final release, I think you're assuming the risk already. If you find some problem when trying, you have the opportunity to improve Ubuntu by reporting it :)

Anyway, final version is a few days ahead only and most packages are already very stable. I belive you won't have any serious problem... just try and uninstall it, case it works bad.

hello Roberto,

appreciate your timely reply; I had already tried fglrx; it did not display the logon screen just the desktop background and ...., I had to reset the pc; note, the boot displayed no errors; I went into recovery and reconfigured xorg, rebooted then disabled the restricted ati. compiz, obviously no try. I'll wait and see what new updates will come down the pipe; no more fglrx tries until final rel --> may encounter deeper problems.

thx,

peter b
