Unable to print spread sheet larger than A4

When trying to print spreadsheets when I set the print range using define print area thus usually sets it A4 and thus misses off ant cells outside this parameter. i used to be able to get round this by using format within page preview and selecting sheet and then I could get the whole spreadsheet on one A4 page.

Now when I go to the sheet option it just crashes the system and then the laptop re starts and an error report comes up which I send on but no action ever occurs.

this hppens on a lot of spreadsheets but not all and I have tried copying the spreadsheet to a new file but the problem still occurs.
