Acer Aspire 9300 Audio Driver

Asked by PM van Berkel

Just installed Ubuntu on my Acer Aspire 9300 with Realtek audiocard onboard. However, everything works well except the audiocard. Is there anyone who can help me resolve this issue. Perhaps there's an compatible driver available. Tried everything so far but nothing works... Becoming quit desperate...

I believe Acer has had Realtek sound card trouble for some time.

Some similar issues in the forum:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=437823

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=706626

...might give you some direction.

Also:

Alot of these are for different Acer models using realtek hardware, so be sure to check you're talking about the same thing.

For all I know, this issue may change with April 24th 8.04 release, but I am certainly no expert on sound cards.

I hope this helps, moral support if nothing else.

Goodluck.

I have a Aspire 9300 too, when I installed 7.10 the audio didn't work either but I could see the speaker icon on the launcher panel with no red x on it so I knew the driver was on it. After searching & asking friends we found the solution was right clicking the speaker icon going to preferences & selecting Master.

Can you help with this problem?
