Ubuntu live CD is taking time to boot

Asked by Aloysius

Hello everyone,

I have an Ubuntu live CD that I want to test on my Dell inspiring 15, which has AMD processor, before installing on my system, but I realized it is taking longer time to boot. As I am typing this message, it is still blinking the Ubuntu logo. I am wondering what could be the cause and how to resolve it. though, I have used this same live CD before on this system and it worked, but recently when I try using it, it keeps on blinking the ubumtu logo till I become tired of watching and have to force it to shutdown.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?
Can your system not boot USB? It's a lot faster.

I didn't do the MD5 test because I know nothing about Linux then and I also thought since the download was working then there was no need to do all that.

As regards burning a CD slowly, I did as instructed by the Ubuntu guide.

I haven't tried booting from USB. What are the steps involved in making a bootable USB

MD5 is not specific to Linux. You can MD5 test in Windows,ao not knowing anything about Linux is absolutely irrelevant.

You have failed to test the ISO you downloaded, so you don't know if the data you are using is complete or consistent.

If you want to make a bootable USB stick then you can use Unetbootin to transfer the ISO to the USB stick. Format it as FAT32 first, then use the application.
