Sound problems: A high pitched sound from the sound card and incorrect output

Asked by Not Telling

I have a problem where my sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy Rx) is sometimes making a high pitched sound when outputting sound when using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. The high pitched sound doesn't happen when using Windows 10 Home.

Another problem I am having is that sound only works in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS when the option 'Digital Output (S/PDIF) SB0400 Audigy2 Value' is selected in Sound Settings under the Output tab in the 'Play sound through' list, when it should be working on the option 'Analog Output / No Amplifier SB0400 Audigy2 Value' as my speakers are connected using an analog connection without an amplifier.

Please help.

The block of text in the middle is the command. It has a URL inside of it and your browser will render it as blue text with an underline but ignore it. Copy the command as one line and paste to a terminal.
Select to upload the information and a URL will be generated. What is the URL please?

I killed the process. It began uploading information to the internet without my consent and didn't tell me what information it was uploading.

I am trying to get away from Windows 10 Home because of all the spying and homing in to Microsoft. I don't appreciate Ubuntu homing in information without my consent.
