Installing lsb-core on Ubuntu 14.04

Asked by Kyle

I'm trying to download COMSOL which requires the lsb-core to be installed. But for some reason despite the command and amount of updates, I can't seem to download it onto my Ubuntu 14.04 OS. Any suggestions?

sudo apt-get install lsb-core

This is the output I get straight from the command line:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package lsb-core is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'lsb-core' has no installation candidate

You seem not to be running Ubuntu 14.04, but Ubuntu 16.04, and the problem you are facing is a known issue, Bug #1536353 and others.
Actionparsnip's workaround should help.

Can you help with this problem?
