Screen saving with DisplayPort

Asked by Kent

Hi,

Screen saving is not always working with my monitor, when I'm using DisplayPort interface. Sometimes it does. but usually doesn't.

I have a monitor, manufactured by Dell and I'm using Intel HD graphics DisplayPort interface, integrated to the mb.

Thanks.

What does "is not working" mean in this case?
What is the output of:

sudo dmidecode -t 1; lsb_release -a; uname -a; dpkg -l | grep -i screensaver

Thanks

When I said that the Screen saving is not working, I mean that display is ON, all the time, even when I'm not using this for hours.

Sometimes, display goes blank after 5 minutes, like it should.

dmidecode command output:

dmidecode 3.0
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 2.7 present.

You don't have a screen saver installed. Obfuscated host names don't really do anything but doesn't hurt.

sudo dpkg -P libkscreensaver5 xscreensaver-data xscreensaver xscreensaver-gl

sudo apt-get clean

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get install xscreensaver

No, it's not that. The problem is with the power saving, it's not working right with the DisplayPort, sometimes it does, but usually it doesn't.

try install proprietary drivers of your video card.
visit Dell website and search the correct video driver
and install it.

After recent update, DisplayPort power saving seems to be working, most of the time.
