Cannot print documents from ubuntu touch tablet

Asked by Sergei Pikalev

Hi.

I bought a bq aquaris m10 tablet with ubuntu onboard.

And suddenly I've found that there are no printing ability. At all!

I really need it. I need to print from web browser, from pdf viewer as I can do it from android, ios or winmobile devices. Moreover, it's really more than funny to release an OS without printing support. How is it possible to miss BASIC functionality? Fix it URGENTLY please.

Sergi

Is cups installed?
What printer do you have?
How do you connect to the printer?

Of course, no, libcups2 only, no client. Can I install other cups packages with apt-get? Should it help? Will I be able to print at least gmail messages and/or web pages? I remind I talk about ubuntu tablet with touch version, not desktop.

The model of printer does not matter. Connected to wifi router through USB and shared as network printer (IIP), also accessible through wifi and bluetooth from android devices.

The model does matter because the system will need drivers to communicate with the device.

Ok.

Printer HP LaserJet P1102w connected to Zyxel Keenetic through USB.

Now I do not talk about laptops with Win or Ubuntu, everything is fine with them.

Also fine with Android. I've downloaded HP plug-in from market. Then I went to System Settings, Printing section, switched plug-in on. Then I can print from 1) internet browser 2) pdf viewer 3) gmail and some others applications which is less important important by choosing the "Print" button in their menus.

On my Ubuntu Touch device - oops! NO printing section in System Settings. NO printing-related downloads on the app market. NO "print" button in menus of any apps (especially browser and gmail).

But - the important thing - I did not talk about some special ritual dances with shaman's drum around one specific printer. That's why I did not want to tell the model of printer. It definitely does not matter, because there should be a COMMON PROCEDURE how to set up printing on your device. And ONLY the difference for different printers should be the place where to take drivers.

So in this question, I do not ask how to set up my printer exactly, I ask WHAT IS THE COMMON WAY TO SET UP PRINTING ON UBUNTU TOUCH DEVICES?

Probably, this topic should be a bug, not a question.

I also need the possibility to print on my bq Aquaris M10.
To print on my bq Auquaris E4.5 would be nice, but on the M10 it's an essential thing,

It becomes more than funny. Just ignore the questions to make them expired is not a good practice.

If people don't have anything to reply with, what do you want them to write, exactly?

Think about it.....
