cant get any wireless networks to show, xenial, worked before

Asked by aaron

I had Xenial installed, but i reinstalled it because i thought to try xfrce, that turned out badly. so i tried purging it.. didn't go well.. ended up just reinstalling from usb to get unity back.. during the installation process it connected for a while to some wifi, then maybe disconnected from wireless.. after installation no wifi spots would show.. I thought, just do a clean install.. but even then, during the install process none were being listed so i canceled the installation and I'm finding most information to be outdated..and inapplicable thanks in advance and some later

i think i should have completed the clean install.. maybe its the fastest way.. of course it would fix the problem, i just tried running xenial from usb, this time the wireless options were there.. ill save us a headache and complete the clean (complete) reinstall
