Canon i-SENSYS MF8280CW not working

Asked by Mark

Today I tried to install a Canon i-SENSYS MF8280CW Color Laser Printer with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (64bit) (Printer in office via network connected).
If I try to add a printer the printer appears in the network as MF8200C to choose it.
1st try was with Ubuntu Drivers - there I found no appropriate one.
2nd try was on Canon website with Debian Drivers for this model - I tried 64bit as well as 32 bit.
Both don't work the only thing what is working is the toner graphics for all colors.
If I print something (test page too) printer aborts with error.
3rd try was to use the GAPT driver from Canon, there the test page went out 1 time all further prints stopped with error too (Wrong paper format - Letter - gray - not able to change it)
Which driver is compatible for this Color Laserprinter or which is working.
Same problem with the Canon Scanner - it is not working too...ScangearMP failed, ISane failed too.
Printer is OK with all functions, tested with other OS.

Solved I used the LPD/LPR (not the printer shown in network list !!) and then the IP of the printer and then Canon MF8200C UFRII LT - now I try to solve the scanner issue
