No HDMI Sound - ATI/AMD Video & Asus HDMI monitor

Asked by Mopar1973Man

I've googled all over the internet trying to figure out how to get the speakers on my new monitor to function. I've tried every hack I could find but I'm still left with a HDMI monitor without sound. Alsamixer shows that there is a digital audio but there is zero adjustment and locked to 00. (Not muted). I've already tried the forum (no response), and tried askubuntu as well (no response). Can someone help me?

It been about a week I'm wondering if there is any updates, ideas or things to try? Still would like to resolve this issue.

Attempting to do more hunting on my own... Disable the on board sound so only the HDMI is only present device now.

https://mopar1973man.com/_alsa/alsa-info2.txt

Alsamixer still displays the same 00 non-adjustable setting as posted before.

As for speaker testing...

 Playback device is hw:0,3
 Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy

Maybe this will help... (shrug)...
