what if I just uninstall pulseaudio, will alsa work then?

what if I just uninstall pulseaudio, will alsa work then? I can't get gutsy to reinstall off the disk and I miss my skype.

I think yes, but you can easy test it -- uninstall it and if also won't work, just install pulseaudio again :-).
