Application's main menu missing

Neither Gnome Shotwell nor Gnome Terminal have their menus in their window's top bar after installation of Ubuntu 16.04.

How can I get them back?

I assume you are facing the problem described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes#Unity_7

Try the command
restart unity-panel-service

or log off and logon again.

An updated package that hopefully will solve the problem is currently being prepared.
