Look at your sources list

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Can you copy and paste here?

Thanks for the reply arochester. I got frustrated and re-image the entire pc with a new Xubuntu 16.04 LTS AMD64. Everything seem to be in working order.

Cheers!
