Auto mount HD issue

Asked by firmit

A rather strange situation has happened. My Maxtor USB HDD gets auto-mounted - okay.
3-4 days ago, I changed my sources.list to update my 8.04 beta with the default rep. ( removing the prefix "no." infront of archives etc. )

Now, I get a number of ( well 4 to be exact ) directories created for mounting the maxtor.
In /media/ these dirs gets created:
./maxtor
./maxtor_
./maxtor__
./maxtor___

And the disk is mounted on the /media/maxtor___ - this was not a problem before the upgrade.

Any thoughts?

I think the problem is that when rebooting, the current mount-directory does not get deleted.
So - I may end up with infinite unused directories here...

Ok..

Please try this:

I can confirm this on my gutsy computer...

When I mount my usb disk during bootup it creates multiple directories as below

/media/crucial
/media/crucial_
/media/crucial__

and the drive is mounted at: /media/crucial__

Try unmounting every thing and after a reboot try hot plugging it again...(and it works for me)

Bhavani Shankar.
