slow downloads from ppa.launchpad.net

Today's (16-MAY-2016) downloads are extremely slow, around 25-50 kB/s. Since they include an couple of kernels for Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS and mythtv 0.28 it'll be hours.
This looks (and feels) very bad when compared to other distros, etc, upgrading.
Is this just temporary or is there a better scheme for updating?

Agreed, noticing this as well. Painful when on a Gigabit FTTH connection :)

The speed of your LAN is fairly moot for Web access (unless you have 1Gbps downstream to your router from the Internet).

If the issue persists then I suggest you report a bug to make people aware
