Update stopped ethernet and wifi working

Asked by ken bright

I have been running Ubuntu 14 04 successfully for 10 months on a Zoostorm with a pentium G3620 64 bit.
After todays automatic up dates I have lost internet connection. Wired and wireless labels have disappeared from 'system settings network' and only network proxy remains. When I click on network a message "The system network services are not compatible with this version " appears.
I can get network connection with a 16 04 live boot from CD I picked up to day so its fairly obvious I need to reverse something in the 14 04 update but I don't know what and how(I don't want to install the 16 04 just yet )
I am also getting a "System problem detected" but can't report it automatically without internet connection. I'm posting this from my windows machine

I am having the same problem. I don't, however have Ubuntu 16 downloaded yet. I don't have a backup computer to get it on a thumb drive either. So, I would also like to find a way of reversing the update.
