add/remove major error

This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'.

i get this when i open my edubuntu add/remove

JohnH,

I am making a wild assumption you are using medibuntu. Since I am not a user myself, I thought this thread might be handy. The good stuff starts to hit around comment 16 on page 2:

Try the fixes (especially comment 15) and please report back here whether it resolves you problem or not.

That worked a treat! Thank you very much for your assistance. I am running Ubuntu 7.10 and updates working perfectly again now.
