Can't login after 15.10 update

Hi, I'm new to using Ubuntu and I just updated to 15.10. After the update, I am unable to login. I enter my password, it black screens for a moment then brings me back to the login page. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Press CTRL + ALT + F1 and log in and run:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo chown -R $USER:$USER $HOME
sudo reboot

You don't need to modify the command, it uses BASH variables.
