Ubuntu 16.04 fresh install from disk

Asked by davidzaq1

Hello,

I just installed Ubuntu from a cd. Everything looks good but there are no additional drivers. I can't get on the internet as it did not install my broadcom driver. Is there a way to fix this through the terminal?
Thank you

There is an offline method
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx

Easier to use a wired connection and get full updates as well as install the drivers online

I found the wireless drivers. They are on the install disk . When I click on the driver, it takes me to the software center where there is a tab to click install. I click install but nothing happens

Perhaps there is a way to have a smartphone share internet with your Linux. Try to plug a smart phone into the machine, and see if it will share it's internet connection.

I'm sorry, I don't have a smart phone that will connect to Ubuntu desktop. Is there another way?

You have already created another question document for your new problem (Ubuntu 16.04, no cable network available and the WLAN device not working).
I suggest you mark this question document as solved and just keep another one open ,e.g. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/293123 to have all communication about that problem in one document.
