I am not a unix techie type and cannot use my USB keyboard

When I decided to give up windows, I had a local computer shop install Mint on my "old" desktop computer. I have no idea on how to create commands or even understand what to enter at the ">'" sign. Can you assist me with recovering my keyboard. All I can use now is the onscreen keyboard, which is not a satisfactory solution.

Mint is not supported by the Ubuntu community in any way. It's support community is entirely separate from Ubuntu's. I suggest you post on the Mint forum here:
