Can't Install Ubuntu - Screen Goes to black when click install.

Asked by Aitonk

I am trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 x64. This is my first time dealing with linux so I might be doing something wrong.

When I goto Install Ubuntu my display (which is an LCD TV) says no signal. So I tried changing the resolution to 1024 x 758 and instead of saying no signal it's just black.

I tried inserting the code "live vga = 771" into the other options boot menu code line thingy but that didn't work either.

I am using a nVidia 8800GTS video card

I can't even install with Safe Graphics mode.

Please somone help.

If you have a fast internet connection, you could try to download an alternative installation cd (it uses a text-based installer).
