My touchpad has stopped working on a dual boot Acer Aspire E5 since an ubuntu update

Asked by David

Sorry but I am very new to Ubuntu. I have Ubuntu 14.04 on an Acer Aspire E5-411 with Windows 10 still installed on a dual boot. The touchpad has stopped working since Ubuntu updated itself but still works in windows. all other hardware is working as it should and at the moment I am using a USB mouse.
I understand that I will probably need to provide a lot more information but I don't have a clue what that will be and how to acquire it from the terminal, all help will be welcome and greatly appreciated.

Try:

sudo modprobe -r psmouse; sleep 3; sudo modprobe psmouse

Does it help?
