cd/dvd will recognize DVD's but not photo CD's

Recently upgraded to 16.04 and was trying to copy photos from CD's into Shotwell.
Suddenly my computer is not detecting that I have a photo CD inserted.
However if I insert a DVD it the dialogue box opens up asking me what I want to do and the DVD shows up as an icon in the launcher.
Any suggestions?
