Touchpad features not working

Asked by Klaus Bielke

I use Ubuntu GNOME 16.04, the trackpad (touchpad) features does not work. I can move cursor, but tapping and scrolling does not work. It is working perfectly in 14.04 on my dual boot 14.04/16.04. Moreover, in 16.04 there is no trackpad option under mouse and touchpad (settings).

I followed this procedure without succeed: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection (Section 2/4), requested files are attached. There is no Xorg-log in /var/log/, I so I provide

cat /proc/bus/input/devices > ~/devices

xinput --list | tee ~/xinput

cat /var/lib/gdm3/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log | tee Xorg.o.log

I would be grateful for any help provided.

Was going to suggest report a bug but it seems it already exists in some form.
