Chrome browser installation

Asked by peterzay

After downloading the deb package from the Google site, I open the deb with software center.

Click on install and nothing happens.

There is a ? icon in the launcher with a progress bar but no progress. I never get any authentication screens as expected.

This 64 bit package will not install on this 64 bit Ubuntu 16.04.

Any suggestions?

Try:

sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/*.deb; sudo apt-get -f install

sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/*.deb failed due to dependency problems.

Once resolved, it worked fine.

Thanks.

To complete this thread, the required dependencies to enable the chrome browser deb download to install are:

libappindicator1 (version 12.10.1+15.04.20141110-0ubuntu1) will be installed
libindicator7 (version 12.10.2+16.04.20151208-0ubuntu1) will be installed
