my onboard es 1869 sound card is not woking

i`m new to ubuntu , i browsed all over the net and tried all the tricks in the book .
i even changed the bios irq , and it did not work !!!
my specifications are sound card- ess es 1869
Compaq deskpro en series Pentium III 512Mb ram

please help me!!!! i am so tired with this bloody sound card
