Size of 16-04 when updating from update manager

Asked by bamber

My only access to broadband is via a dongle with a 2GB limit ( pay as you go)
I am worried that if the download exceeds this limit I may run into all sorts of difficulties.
If there is a way to find out this download size when using update manager. I have been successful in the past.

Then I suggest getting the latest iso image of Lubuntu 16.04 LTS beta, which is just 861 MB in size:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily-live/current/

Any alternative (including Bittorrent or upgrading via apt-get) will cost you more megabytes....

Make sure to compare the sha256sum value here

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily-live/current/SHA256SUMS

with the calculated sha256sum value for your downloaded Lubuntu .iso image.

More info here:

I really don't want to make a fresh install- if I wanted to do that I would buy the disk. I want to use update-manager to update my system. That way I don't have to reinstall all the software I have installed. Anyway, thanks for the response. I might have have to shop around and see if I can obtain a bigger limit with pay as you go - no success yet.
