Will Ubuntu 16.04 include patch for Badlock bug?

Asked by rpr nospam

On 12 April Microsoft and the Samba Team will release a patch for Badlock bug (see http://badlock.org), a crucial security bug in Windows and Samba.

As the release of Ubuntu 16.04 is scheduled for 21 April I'd like to know if the initial release of Ubuntu 16.04 will include the patch for Badlock bug.

I suggest you report a bug. Mark it as a security bug

It seems I need to install the current Ubuntu 16.04 beta or daily release to be able to report the bug through ubuntu-bug tool. Am I right?

Is there another way which does not require running ubuntu-bug?

The preferred way for creating a bug report is with the provided tools (e.g. ubuntu-bug command or apport reporting tool), but there is also a manual way with help of the Launchpad.net web pages.

You can use https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+filebug to file a bug against the samba package (which most probably is the relevant source package in this case).

(I hope that the Ubuntu security team is already aware of the badlock bug, but I did not find any evidence yet.)
