Creative Live Cam Notebook does not work on Ubuntu

Asked by joapen

After 3 months with Ubuntu, the only thing that I cannot get working is the Web Cam.

The camera is: Creative Live Cam Notebook.

I have installed linux-headers-2.6.22-14-generic.

After that I installed "gspcav1-20071224.tar.gz" from http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html

following the instructions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Spca5xx

Then the lsusb output is:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c03e Logitech, Inc. Premium Optical Wheel Mouse
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 041e:4068 Creative Technology, Ltd
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

I have also created a group named "video" and I have added myself there.

When I try to connect to camorama or kopete it shows the error message "could not connect to video device (/dev/video0)".

What could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I looked there and it's in the list:

SUNPLUS Vendor Id Product Id Sunplus based Cameras Bridge Sensor Support Stream Driver
Creative 216 0x041e 0x4029 Creative WebCam Live! Vc301p Tas5130c Yes jpeg spca5xx/LE gspca v4l1/v4l2

but the device ID in my computer, that you have told me ( 041e:4068 ) is not there.

Does it means that the web cam is not supported by these drivers?

Thanks

Ups!!

Ok, now I understand, at least I'm not 100% guilty of this error. ;-)

Thank you so much for your help, currently I'm learning Linux and sometimes it's frustrating.
