how to change the boot order

I am running ubuntu 7.0 i think, i know it is the latest version , howver i want to dual boot with windows xp but when i put in the bootable cd it isn't automatically running. i think i have to change the boot order but i dont know how?

Which boot order ?

1. The GRUB boot order that controls which operating system should appear first on the GRUB menu or
2. Which drive should boot first (floppy, CD, Hard Drive).
