reinstall 14.04

Asked by davidzaq1

Hello.

I have installed 16.04 but my computer system is messed up and no one can answer my other posts.

I have a 14.10 disk.
Can I reinstall 14.10 off the disk just to get Ubuntu working again?

Sure, just boot to the install media and select to wipe the drive (I assume this is not a dual boot).

This will destroy all data on the drive so be sure your backups are up to date

Incase the disk didn't work, do you have the ISO for 14.04? Maybe I can save it to a flash drive and boot from there.

Thank you.

You should be able to reinstall Ubuntu 14.04 from a USB or CD can't see why you would not be able to. Just make sure that you have a fresh copy of the IOS files when you are ready to download. I recommend getting it from the Ubuntu website.

Hello David, You will have to edit the bios in your machine and choose the correct option that will allow you to boot up from the USB drive, This may vary depending on your machine. Some computes will boot into the BIO's using the F12 key others F8 or maybe F10

I would recommend doing a quick search and see what the options are for your computer...

Hope this helps.
