When I downloaded backuppc with synaptic I got an error exit status 1

When I downloaded backuppc with synaptic package manager this is what i got
backuppc: sub process post-instalation script returned error exit status 1

You can try to remove it with the command
sudo apt-get --purge remove backuppc
and then reinstall it using
sudo apt-get install backuppc
Do you notice similar results?

I removed it then reinstalled it using apt-get I got the same results.
The other thing that it said is the email could not be configured.
I am running the internet through another computer "dialup"
so I don't have our basic email set up on this computer.
