ubuntu 5.10 needs to be updated

Hi, After 2 years I am able to network in my truck w/kyocera KR2 wireless router. This allowed me to get on line w/sprint U727 card.Before(few and far between) had to plug into a cable inorder to go om line. I am unable to update. nor was I able to install 7.10 from the Linux Format mag. disk. I tried many times. I am on a 478 socket 3 GH CPU 2 gig of ram. Can you help? Jerry

However, it is quite time consuming to upgrade through every single release. Therefore, you should consider if it makes more sense to download a new Live-CD and install a new system. You should backup all your data you want to keep first. You can also order a CD for free if you cannot download it https://shipit.ubuntu.com/.

Hi Ralph, I thought so.I had to use 5.10 to get on line. Downloading now.will new install take out old?or will I have to uninstall 1st/ Thanks Jerry

You can use the live-CD to install the new version instead of the old one. It is not an upgrade, but re-formats your partitions.
