Is there no hope for me with AMD Graphics Card?

Asked by Icemacku

So, I installed Ubuntu 14.02. I really like the design and the feel of a Linux based operating system after using Windows for years. However, I like to play video games too. Which is mainly World of Warcraft. I play 2 expansions, both on private servers. Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm. When I open WotLK, it runs smooth and everything's fine, until units start disappearing and eventually the image turns black. On Cataclysm on the other hand, the image just turns black right within the first few seconds. I tried downloading the drivers directly from AMD's website which made things even worse and I ended up having to reinstall the whole OS. Any advice?

PS: I know for a fact that the issue is GPU related as when I tried using Intel HD 4400 everything worked like a charm. Except ofc the drastic FPS decrease. My card: AMD Radeon R7 250 Powercolor

Nevermind, I downloaded the proprietary driver from AMD's website and I have no issues other than the significant FPS drop compared to what I had on Windows.
