Installing Ubuntu v14 (or v15) problem

Asked by Biorn Svenson

When I try to install Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS or Ubuntu 15.10 for Desktop (both x64) I got this message:

http://s11.postimg.org/l9wlyiz37/IMAG0124.jpg

After that my PC just freeze and I can't even restart it from reset button on my case.

My configuration is:
CPU i5-3570
Motherboard Asus p8z77-v
Ram 8 GB Corsair
Video Gigabyte GTX 660OC 2GB

I've tried to install it with 2 different flash drives (I use USB 2.0 port) Adata32GB and Kingston8GB and I'm using Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.6.3 for creating bootable flash drive.
I've disabled Secure boot in BIOS and change setting to OTHER OS.

Thank you for your time and I hope that there is solution to my problem.

Looks like a failing drive. You may want to reset your BIOS to failsafe. Also grab the drive tester from your manufacturer (or ultimate boot cd).

I reseted my BIOS and also tried with another hard drive. I also tried Fedora 15 (x64) Live CD and Ubuntu v12 but result is the same...

Nope. I removed (WD Black HDD 1TB) from the case and installed Seagate Barracuda 1TB which I borrowed from a friend who lives next door. He was using Ubuntu 14 on it. But for the experiment he formatted the HDD and gave it to me. But I got this error message again and my pc freezed.

I tried 'nomodest' 'acpi=off' and other options in different combinations. Unplugged printer and leave only mouse and keyboard.

Could try connecting the drive to a different SATA controller. I assume the drive is SATA and not PATA.

WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch

Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"

These are the two drives I tried. Tested in all ports of motherboard (6Gb/s and 3Gb/s) and still the same.
Sorry for wasting your time. I guess there is no way to install Ubuntu on this computer...

I found a solution. I installed Ubuntu 14 without a problem when unplugged my optical disc drive (DVD-RW). I used flash drive for the installation. I don't know the reason but my DVD-RW drive cause all problems.
