How to load graphical user interface Ubuntu?

Asked by b m harsha

I just installed Ubuntu by skipping the installation of all packages, but the installation wizard said core components are installed. Now, I don't have any Graphical User Interface for Ubuntu. I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 version now everything should be done by commands. I am not familier with any Linux commands, how do I install those packages that are required for Graphical User Interface and other important packages. I don't have CD/DVD for Ubuntu now please suggest a solution that involves downloading of these packages through Internet?

just run 'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop'
if you want a gnome desktop, or
'sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop'
if you want a KDE desktop. For Xfce, run
'sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop'
