Wireless Card Problem

Asked by M4rotku

Hello,

I just reinstalled 7.10 and at first, my wireless card was detected and I was able to connect to the internet without an Ethernet cable. However, after I used the update manager to get 200-some updates since I had just done a clean install, the option to connect via wireless is completely gone. Is there any way to fix this? I have an HP Pavilion dv6662se Notebook PC with a Intel Pro/Wireless 4965AGN wireless card.

Much thanks in advance.

Joey H,

According to this link, your card is supposed to work out of the box.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsIntel

Take a look at the link below, hope it will help you configure your card.

It did work out of the box, and then I installed the updates for Ubuntu 7.10 using the update manager and it stopped working.

Zombie, I tried the help.ubuntu link to try and configure the card and followed it's directions and it did not work. Since i know that this problem was caused by an update, is there anyway to undo the update, I do not know which specific update it was though. It seems that every time i install updates, another part of my hardware becomes unusable. Is there any way to undo these updates?

Would it be bad for my system if I didn't get any of the updates between the 6-month releases of new versions? This is what I'm thinking of doing after I do a clean upgrade to Hardy when it comes out.
