Minimize on click

Asked by Flávio Vivório Salles

I'm a Ubuntu user since 2012 and I use it at home, at work and in my university. I have friends that enjoy using Ubuntu too, but I have a relevant question: why does Ubuntu haven't a "minimize on click" function in the dash? Seriously this is incredibly distressful and the lay users just found it stressful. I hope Canonical put this useful function in the 16.04 version of Ubuntu.

Sorry for my bad english. I'm Flavio, I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thank you for reading and for answering.

Fine. Here's the commands output:

- Output of the command "lsb_release -a":

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty

- Output of the command "uname -a":

Linux flavio 4.3.0-040300-lowlatency #201511020949 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 2 14:55:33 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And thanks for answering.

I'm really sorry but this is terrible. This is a huge design mistake. I'm not a programmer, I'm a designer, I can't just write a line of code to put it on Unity and I can't just suggest it to Canonical because according to the "OMG! Ubuntu": the current code points to it being available through the Unity plugin pane of the Compiz Config Settings Manager. But the "compizconfig-settings-manager" package isn't even available in a fresh Ubuntu installation. So the lay users have to manually install it from the Ubuntu Software Center or using command line. Ok Ubuntu Software Center is easy to use but some users just don't know what is Compiz. Ubuntu is not only for developers is for other users too.

In my opinion Ubuntu is the best Linux distribuition today. So I won't stop using it. But a lot of friends of mine will because is just not simple and not comfortable to do some stuff.

I appreciate your help. I hope Canonical start thinking about best functionalities for the OS and a best design too.

Regards

You don't have to use Unity shell, other desktop sessions have similar functionality.

Have a play, see what you can find.
