Ubuntu install stuck at 89%

Asked by Lars Sundell

When installing it very often stops to
                         89%
Checking for packages to remove...

Waited for about an hour and still nothing. Did CD-Check, says my CDs fine, what can I do?

Tried on different hard drives (physically changing some other ones into the place of my primary one) and that didn't help

The CD-Check often lies. Try downloading the Alternate install CD. (http://releases.ubuntu.com/gutsy/ubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso)

I've seen this when the partition is too small.

Can you help with this problem?
