What is the best filesystem for a home server

I run a headless debian machine as a home server which stores videos and music with a variety of other stuff. What filesystem would be best suited for my drives. I have a 500 gig external and 250 gig internal drives. I access files from both a windows machine and a laptop running ubuntu.

ext3 would be a good idea.

To access ext3 file systems from Windows, you will have to download a driver. Follow the link below:
