Selecting Human List does not work. Login screen reverts to Gnome default.

Asked by Nick Russell

Selecting ''Human List' (the one with the face browser) from Setup login screen does not work. It appears to have been applied successfully but on logoff the login screen reverts to Gnome default (a blue login screen, I think it is 'Circle'?). Logging back in selecting Human List again corrects the issue.

What version of Ubuntu are you using?
I tried this in Hardy, but I got the List screen as expected.

Double check that under the Local Tab it says "Selected Only". That's usually the root of the issue.

It's easy to overlook the "Random" or "Selected Only" option. Most likely this is a question.

It happens even if I select 'selected only'. I can reproduce it on both my machines with a fresh intall, but it only happens once for each instal. After that I can select what I like and the selection sticks.

I just did 2 fresh installs- one 7.10 for a friend, the other under Hardy on my test machine... I didn't experience this problem in either, and I also prefer list logins. When X restarts, it seems your issue vanishes... Maybe you could provide more detail.

Its late. Let me do another reinstall to check I'm getting my facts straight. Thanks for your help.

Just tried a 3rd install and I'm not able to reproduce it this time. The only thing I can think is that the first two times I must have accidentally chosen 'Random' as well as the face browser. Sorry about that. Glad we got to the bottom of it though.
