No external display with USB-C to HDMI/VGA Dell XPS 13 9350 and Ubuntu 16.04
Ubuntu doesn't see any external monitor connected with the USB-C adapters for video that came with the computer, tried both HDMI and VGA adapter, different displays (that do work with other PCs). The display manager in the system settings does not see any displays, and I can't change resolution either, Scaling tool works quite ok though.
I installed the displaylink 1.0.335 and the Intel graphics drivers earlier (skldmcver 123, intel linux graphics installer v 1.2.1-0intel2) but it doesn't help. I'm running 16.04 with 4.3.0_5 generic. None of these proprietary drivers show up , only "using processor microcode firmware for intel-cpus from intel micropprocessors".
I checked the BIOS, everything is enabled there, USB-C is enabled without security, tried with display only and security as well (ask user) with no improvement.
I'm running the latest BIOS from dell, v 1.1.7
If USB-C doesn't work yet, do you know if a USB 3/2 display adapter works? If so, which? I have only one USB-C slot and two USB-3 slots...
Many thanks!
Here's the output from lsusb and lshw.
